Shino is a type of Mino ware that was born in what is now Gifu Prefecture, following Kiseto and Setoguro, and was the first white pottery made in Japan.
It is characterized by a milky white surface covered with feldspar glaze and painted with iron glaze.

This piece is a flat bowl with a rounded rectangular shape called "Nadeshiho."
A large iris is painted on the bottom of the inside of the cup using a pigment containing iron, and the wide, flared edge is decorated with patterns such as Seigaiha and Yoraku.

The edges are beaded, and despite the soft shape, the careful craftsmanship is striking.
When turned over, you can see three string-like semi-ringed legs and large eye marks next to them.

The key point is the white color, but this piece is glossy and well-fired, with a beautiful snow-white color, and the contrasting color of the iron glaze painting is also a highlight.

The condition is good.
There is one repair approximately 1 cm in size on the rim and one crack approximately 3 cm long, but these are not later additions and are part of the original porcelain body.
