This rounded octagonal plate is a work of Ai-kutani type Arita ware, which is considered to be a highly skilled piece of early Imari ware.
The projection is lowered, creating a shape with pronounced edges.

A large fan-shaped painting is depicted in the center, depicting a mounded mountain with two egrets huddled at its base. Snow has piled up on the mountain's peak, and the egrets appear to be curled up as if to protect themselves from the cold. The shading technique used to depict the snow-capped mountain is also outstanding, giving the impression of viewing a fan-shaped painting inside the vessel.

Turning it over, you'll be amazed at how tasteful it is. It's simple and free of any unnecessary decoration. The "Starry Shippo" pattern is only around the base, matching the corners of the octagonal shape.

Imari-style pottery often has a beautiful design on the front, but when you turn it over you are disappointed by the unsophisticated painting. This piece is a stylish piece with a beautiful overall harmony between shape and design, resonating with modern aesthetic sensibilities.

All 5 pieces are in good condition and fit in a box.
