Old Imari incense burner and container
¥154,545
This is a very small incense burner and incense container set, less than 4cm in diameter. Perhaps they were originally made as Hina-dolls' accessories.
From the Genroku to Kyoho eras in the middle of the Edo period, townspeople's culture matured and various styles of costume were born. You can feel the mood of that era even in these small works.
The square incense burner is painted with red paint, and the inside of the blue and white border window is decorated with a Shippo pattern in green and gold. Although many colors are used on a small screen, it does not look busy, and the small amount of gold used on the Shippo parts gives it an elegant feel. You will be drawn in by the painting done with fine brushes.
The little legs attached to the bottom are very carefully made, and it's clear that no effort was spared, even though it is a small item.
The lid, openworked with a shippo pattern to match the incense burner, is also stylish.
On the other hand, the incense container is full of humor.
The figure depicted in blue and white is probably a Southern Barbarian, and is posing as if dancing with his arms raised. The surrounding area is decorated with what appear to be floral patterns, creating a happy mood.
It is a very small incense holder so it cannot be seen from a distance, but when you bring the holder in your hands you will see the comical character and you will find yourself chuckling...It is a scene that can only be created with an incense holder that is handled in your hands.
An exquisite combination of incense container and incense burner. Although small, it will add spice to any space.
A glasses box that can hold both glasses is included.
