This E-karatsu katakuchi (絵唐津片口) has just the right size.
Simple cursive writing is on both sides.
The free and easy lines are characteristic of the simplicity of Karatsu.
The moisturized and lustrous skin is also attractive and feels good to the touch.

There are long horizontal areas of unapplied glaze, called fire areas(火間), on the inside of the piece, which add an accent.
If you pour water or alcohol into it, the color will become deeper and it will show a different appearance.
The spout still bears the marks of an ancient potter's finger as he gathered the clay to form the shape.
Being able to experience this simple flavor is one of the great charms of Karatsu.

If you turn it over, you can enjoy the dark brown earthenware color with a slight reddish tint.
The hill is a magnificent crescent shape that exudes the rustic charm typical of Karatsu.
It's a great size and can be used for a variety of purposes.
It can be used as a bowl for pickles, for serving sashimi, for serving soupy dishes, or as a rice bowl.
And needless to say, it also works well as a sake cup.
It has a capacity of just under 360ml, making it perfect for those who like alcohol.

As you can see in the photo, there is some silver repair on the rim and spout.
The calm color does not stand out.
On the surface of the box there is an inscription by the former owner that reads "Ekaratsu Katakuchi, Collection of Arikizono."
It has been carefully repaired and is likely an item that has been treasured by connoisseurs for generations.
The Shifuku is made of lattice pongee cloth and is custom-made to fit the katakuchi perfectly.
The warp threads are light brown, and the strings and lining are the same color.
