A chrysanthemum-shaped Edo glass cup.
These types of chrysanthemum-shaped sake cups and plates were very popular in the Edo period, and there are many variations in shape and size. This piece is slightly wider in diameter than it is tall, and has an appealing, softly bulging shape.
Edo glass comes in a variety of colors, including purple and blue, but yellow is said to be the rarest. So even if there are several colors of the same shape, the yellow one will fetch the highest price at our purchasing event.
The base has slight irregularities called sand grain, which are unique to Edo Glass made using the mold-blowing technique.
Because it is a delicate craft, this type of sake cup is prone to scratches, but this one is in good condition and is undamaged. It is also pleasant to drink from.
You can't use it every day like you can with sturdy ceramics, but on days when you can't stand the heat, it's a special feeling to have a drink from a sake cup like this. This is a small piece that allows you to fully experience the elegance and coolness of Edo glass with your eyes and lips.
