This adorable brush stand featuring a long-eared rabbit was one of a number of items given to me by a rabbit-loving collector.
With its long ears, slightly open mouth, and long tail, this adorable rabbit will make you smile just by looking at it.
Although it is now a brush holder, it is believed to have originally been part of the decoration of an incense burner or kettle lid.
Rabbits are sacred and auspicious animals, and have been used as designs in many Eastern crafts since ancient times as symbols of prosperity and fertility.
Among these, the "long-eared rabbit," a deformed rabbit with long ears, became all the rage from the Momoyama to Edo periods.
This rabbit was probably created in that same vein.
There is still some vermilion coloring remaining on the ears and mouth.
This all adds up to a really cute atmosphere.
The condition is also good.
The dent on the left side of your buttocks is natural, so there's no need to worry about it.
It is thought to have been made around the Meiji to Showa period, but since we are not sure, we are offering it at a reasonable price.
Just having this makes me happy.
Please take this opportunity to get your hands on one.
