This is a small, plain Karatsu tea bowl. The decayed leaf-colored glaze and serene scenery create a wabi-sabi atmosphere.

The name on the tea bowl is "Zangetsu."

The moon that remains in the sky until dawn has been called the "remaining moon" or "bright moon" since ancient times, and has often been written about in haiku and tanka poems.

Looking inside the tea bowl, a crescent-shaped sliver of glaze appears floating amongst the uniformly glazed landscape. It is not clearly defined, but rather has a hazy appearance that blends into its surroundings. It is likely that the scene on the tea bowl is an image of the moon at dawn, with thin clouds hanging over it and the sunlight gradually disappearing.

The glazed area has a soft, understated sheen, while the clay is a deep brown. The shavings around the bottom and the bamboo-like base give a powerful yet unpretentious impression. The base is slightly raised, and the scenery on the back is also quite impressive.

There are three gold repairs on the edges. One is about 2.5 cm and the other is two small repairs of about 5 mm. All repairs have been carefully made and are beautiful.
