The Yahagigawa River flows through Aichi Prefecture in the central part of the Japanese Islands and empties into Mikawa Bay.

The basin is said to have been dotted with ruins of villages and temples, and as if to announce its presence, numerous artifacts have been excavated, including ritual implements, earthenware, green glazed pottery, and ceramic inkstones dating from the early Jomon to modern times.

Because of their archaeological importance and the romantic story of the discovery of ancient artifacts with the river serving as a natural time capsule, items excavated from the Yahagigawa riverbed site have come to be called "Yahagigawa-agari"  and are regarded as special.

This piece is also a Yayoi earthenware that is said to be from the Yahagigawa River.

Miraculously, it is in perfect condition with no scratches or chips.
It is said that Yahagigawa-agari artifacts are often in perfect condition.

The mellowed texture of the pottery, which has lost its corners after being underwater for many years, is also an attractive feature of pottery excavated from underwater.

The color of the soil varies from gray to white to orange, with gradations that resemble a natural landscape.

The round and round shape is lovely, and the orange line around the body is also a point of interest.

It is a beautiful vase that looks great with flowers, so we hope you will enjoy arranging familiar flowers on it.
